Fugro
Survey (Middle East) Ltd. Corporate History
Fugro
Survey (Middle East) Ltd. has operated in the Middle East since 1978.
In
1979, a consortium of three companies - Intersite, Geomex and Wimpol - was
formally established and named IGW. This consortium was awarded the
positioning and survey contract by ZADCO for their Zakum Field development
programme, which by 1984 had some 84 platforms and 250 wells in place.
During
the course of the late 80's, IGW Surveys Ltd. (as the consortium was by then
called) came under the full ownership of Oceonics Group plc. In 1993,
Oceonics (Asia-Pacific) Ltd., also a fully owned Oceonics Group Subsidiary,
purchased IGW Surveys and became the operating company for the group in the UAE.
Subsequent
to this, in 1997, Oceonics was purchased by the Fugro Group and was renamed
Fugro Survey (Middle East) Ltd. The company has continued to expand, and
now comprises some
120 personnel.
